This verse invites us to compare what passes with what remains.
“Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little.”
Quran, At-Tawba 9:38
Allah addresses the believers: why prefer the earth when the Hereafter is far better? He does not condemn the pleasures of this world, but He reminds us that they are fleeting and limited. Compared to eternity, they seem very small. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to choose what is easy and immediate. Yet, keeping in mind the reward of the Hereafter helps us make more righteous choices, even when they are demanding.
Today, before a decision, ask yourself: does this choice bring me closer to the Hereafter?
