بخل
This verse warns us against stinginess after receiving a favor from Allah.
بَخِلُواْ بِهِۦ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعۡرِضُونَ
they were stingy with it and turned away while they refused.
Quran, At-Tawba 9:76
In this passage, some people had promised Allah to give in charity if He granted them from His bounty. But when He gave them, they were stingy and turned away. The verse associates stinginess with breaking one's word. When we receive a blessing, we may be tempted to keep it all for ourselves. Yet generosity is a sign of gratitude. Today, we can choose to share what we have received.
Identify a recent blessing and share it concretely today, through a donation, a meal offered, or a service rendered.
