وَفَاء
This verse calls us to honesty in our transactions.
وَلَا تَنقُصُواْ ٱلۡمِكۡيَالَ وَٱلۡمِيزَانَ
And do not decrease from the measure and the scale.
Quran, Hud 11:84
The prophet Shu'ayb reminds his people to worship Allah alone and not to cheat by giving less than what is due. He tells them that he sees them in prosperity, but fears for them the punishment of an all-encompassing Day. The next verse clarifies: 'give full measure and weight in justice.' Thus, fairness in exchanges is an act of worship. In our daily life, this applies to everything: giving exact change, not deceiving on quality, respecting schedules. Being honest is a manifestation of faith.
Today, in a transaction (purchase, sale, service), make sure to give or return exactly what is due, without withholding anything.
