إِصْلَاح
This verse invites us to aim for reform, as much as we are able, while relying on Allah.
إِنۡ أُرِيدُ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِصۡلَٰحَ مَا ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُۚ وَمَا تَوۡفِيقِيٓ إِلَّا بِٱللَّهِۚ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلۡتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ أُنِيبُ
"I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah. Upon Him I have relied, and to Him I return."
Quran, Hud 11:88
Shu'ayb responds to his people who reproached him for forbidding certain practices. He clarifies that he does not seek to contradict them, but only to reform what can be reformed. He acknowledges his limits: "as much as I am able." Then he reminds that all success comes from Allah, and he relies on Him. In our lives, we may be tempted to want to change everything around us. This verse invites us to act with humility: do our best, without pretending to control everything, and entrust the outcome to Allah.
Today, identify a situation you would like to improve. Act to reform it as much as you are able, then entrust its outcome to Allah.
