Do Not Incline Toward the Wrongdoers

This verse warns us against a dangerous inclination.

وَلَا تَرۡكَنُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ ٱلنَّارُ

And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire.

Quran, Hud 11:113

Allah forbids us from inclining toward those who commit injustice. This inclination can be sympathy, complicity, or silent approval. The verse warns that this exposes one to severe punishment. It also reminds us that we have no protectors other than Allah, and without Him, we will not be helped.

In our daily lives, we sometimes encounter unjust behavior. We may be tempted to turn a blind eye or go along with the crowd. This verse invites us to remain vigilant and to choose our associations carefully, without compromising our principles.

Today, identify a situation where you might be complicit in injustice through silence or indifference, and decide to distance yourself from it or address it wisely.
