صِدْق
In the palace, the wife of Al-Aziz finally acknowledges the truth.
قَالَتِ ٱمۡرَأَتُ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡـَٰٔنَ حَصۡحَصَ ٱلۡحَقُّ أَنَا۠ رَٰوَدتُّهُۥ عَن نَّفۡسِهِۦ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
The wife of Al-Aziz said: "Now the truth has become evident. It was I who sought to seduce him, and indeed, he is of the truthful."
Quran, Yusuf 12:51
This verse shows a moment of courage: the wife of Al-Aziz admits her fault before the king and the other women. She no longer seeks excuses. She acknowledges that Joseph is innocent and that she attempted to seduce him. This confession is an act of sincerity (sidq): she tells the truth about herself, even if it makes her guilty. In our lives, it is sometimes difficult to admit our mistakes. Yet, acknowledging our wrongs is a form of inner truth. It frees us and allows others to see our honesty. Today, we can practice this sincerity towards ourselves and others.
Take a moment to reflect on a mistake you have made. If possible, acknowledge it to the person concerned, or at least to yourself, with honesty.
