This verse shows us how Joseph was able to keep a thought without revealing it.
فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفۡسِهِۦ وَلَمۡ يُبۡدِهَا لَهُمۡۚ
But Joseph kept it within himself and did not reveal it to them.
Quran, Yusuf 12:77
In this passage, Joseph's brothers accuse him by saying that his brother has stolen. Joseph hears these words, but he keeps his thought to himself and does not reveal it to them. He only says, "You are worse in position." The verse emphasizes that he contained his reaction. In our lives, we may sometimes hear harsh or unfair words. Like Joseph, we can choose not to say everything. Keeping a thought to ourselves can avoid conflicts and preserve peace.
Today, if someone says something hurtful to you, take a moment before responding and keep your first thought to yourself.
