صِدْق
Joseph's brothers learn to speak with honesty.
وَمَا شَهِدۡنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمۡنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلۡغَيۡبِ حَٰفِظِينَ
"We did not testify except to what we knew, and we were not witnesses of the unseen."
Quran, Yusuf 12:81
In this verse, Joseph's brothers tell their father what happened. They acknowledge that their testimony is limited to what they saw and knew. They do not claim to know what is hidden. This attitude shows the importance of transparency: telling the truth about what you know, without inventing or assuming. In our lives, we are sometimes tempted to assert things without certainty. This verse invites us to be humble: recognize our limits and testify only to what we truly know. This strengthens trust and integrity in our relationships.
Today, before sharing information, ask yourself: 'Do I know this for sure?' If not, say so clearly.
