دَعْوَة
This verse teaches us that only the supplication addressed to Allah is true and beneficial.
لَهُۥ دَعۡوَةُ ٱلۡحَقِّۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسۡتَجِيبُونَ لَهُم بِشَيۡءٍ
To Him [alone] is the supplication of truth. And those they call upon besides Him do not respond to them with a thing.
Quran, Ar-Ra'd 13:14
The verse contrasts the supplication of Allah, which is the truth, with that of others, which is futile. It compares those who call upon others to someone stretching out his hands toward water to bring it to his mouth, but it never reaches it. Thus, any supplication addressed to other than Allah remains unanswered. In our daily lives, we may be tempted to place our trust in creatures or things. This verse reminds us to refocus our hearts and requests on Allah alone, for He alone can respond.
Today, before making a request, take a moment to address it sincerely to Allah, acknowledging that He alone can fulfill it.
