صِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ
This verse describes those who maintain the bonds Allah has ordered to preserve, with fear and respect.
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَصِلُونَ مَآ أَمَرَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦٓ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيَخۡشَوۡنَ رَبَّهُمۡ وَيَخَافُونَ سُوٓءَ ٱلۡحِسَابِ
who join that which Allah has ordered to be joined and fear their Lord and are afraid of the evil of [their] account,
Quran, Ar-Ra'd 13:21
This verse combines three attitudes: maintaining the ties Allah has ordered to preserve, fearing one's Lord, and dreading a bad reckoning. The previous verse speaks of those who fulfill their covenants; the next mentions patience and prayer. Here, the focus is on preserving ties, without specifying which ones. In our daily lives, this can mean honoring our commitments and nurturing important relationships, while being mindful that Allah sees us and that we will be held accountable.
Today, think of a relationship you have neglected and take a concrete step to strengthen it, such as a call or a message.
