كَلِمَة طَيِّبَة
Allah compares a good word to a tree with firm roots.
كَلِمَةٗ طَيِّبَةٗ كَشَجَرَةٖ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصۡلُهَا ثَابِتٞ وَفَرۡعُهَا فِي ٱلسَّمَآءِ
a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky
Quran, Ibrahim 14:24
This verse invites us to reflect on the power of a good word. Like a solid tree, it is deeply rooted and reaches toward the sky. It bears fruit, as the next verse shows. A good word is not fleeting; it is stable and alive. Every day we speak words. Some build, others hurt. Choosing a good word is like planting a tree that benefits everyone. A sincere, gentle, or helpful word can transform a relationship or soothe a heart.
Today, before speaking, ask yourself: is this word good? Then say a kind word to someone.
