A Tree That Bears Fruit at All Times

This verse describes the good word as a fruitful tree.

تُؤۡتِيٓ أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِينِۭ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهَا

It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord.

Quran, Ibrahim 14:25

In the parable, the good word is compared to a tree with firm roots and high branches. This verse specifies that this tree yields its fruit at all times, by its Lord's permission. Thus, the good word is not occasional: it is constant and beneficial.

Our speech can be like this tree. Every just word, every encouragement, every forgiveness is a fruit offered to others. We can cultivate this quality by being mindful of what we say, even in small interactions.

Today, say at least one kind and useful word to someone, thinking of it as a fruit offered by Allah's grace.
