شُكْر
This verse describes Abraham as grateful for Allah's favors, then mentions that Allah chose him and guided him.
شَاكِرٗا لِّأَنۡعُمِهِۚ ٱجۡتَبَىٰهُ وَهَدَىٰهُ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسۡتَقِيمٖ
He was grateful for His favors, and Allah chose him and guided him to a straight path.
Quran, An-Nahl 16:121
The verse brings together two qualities of Abraham: gratitude towards Allah and being chosen and guided. It does not state that gratitude is the cause of this selection, but it associates them in the description of this prophet. In our daily lives, we can cultivate gratitude by recognizing everyday blessings. This helps us stay humble and appreciate what we have, without expecting any particular reward.
Today, take a minute to thank Allah for a specific blessing, simply saying 'Alhamdulillah' with sincerity.
