صَبْر
This verse teaches us that patience is better than an equal retaliation.
وَلَئِن صَبَرۡتُمۡ لَهُوَ خَيۡرٞ لِّلصَّـٰبِرِينَ
But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.
Quran, An-Nahl 16:126
The verse acknowledges the right to respond to injustice with an equivalent punishment. But it immediately adds that patience is better for those who endure. It does not promise a specific reward, but it affirms that patience is a good. In our daily lives, when faced with an offense, we can choose to retaliate or to be patient. This verse invites us to consider patience as a superior option, without denying the difficulty of the trial.
Today, if someone wrongs you, take a minute to breathe and choose not to retaliate, remembering that patience is better.
