عَجَلَة
This verse invites us to become aware of our natural haste.
وَيَدۡعُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ بِٱلشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِٱلۡخَيۡرِۖ وَكَانَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ عَجُولٗا
And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:11
This verse describes a human trait: haste. Human beings may ask for what harms them just as they ask for what benefits them. They do not always distinguish between the two. In daily life, we can react too quickly, for example by responding in anger or making an impulsive decision. This verse encourages us to pause and reflect before speaking or acting.
Today, before responding to someone or making a decision, take three deep breaths and ask yourself: does this bring good or harm?
