This verse teaches us how to treat our parents with humility and mercy.
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
Quran, Al-Isra 17:24
After commanding goodness to parents, Allah asks us to lower the wing of humility out of mercy. This image evokes a bird protecting its young. It combines humility and mercy in our attitude towards them. We can apply this by being gentle, patient, and praying for our parents. The verse invites us to acknowledge their past care and ask Allah to grant them His mercy.
Today, call or visit your parents, or if not possible, send them a message to express gratitude and pray for them.
