تَبْذِير
This verse warns us against wastefulness, a behavior we can all correct.
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓاْ إِخۡوَٰنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِۖ
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:27
In this verse, Allah compares the wasteful to the brothers of devils. This strong image shows how serious wastefulness is. The previous verse asks to give to relatives, the poor, and travelers, and not to waste. Here, Allah clarifies the fate of the wasteful. Waste can take simple forms: throwing away food, buying more than needed, or using water excessively. Each day, we can make more conscious choices to avoid this behavior.
Today, before throwing something away, ask yourself if it can be reused, given away, or composted.
