الْقَصْدُ فِي الْإِنْفَاقِ
This verse invites us to find a balanced approach in our spending.
وَلَا تَجۡعَلۡ يَدَكَ مَغۡلُولَةً إِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبۡسُطۡهَا كُلَّ ٱلۡبَسۡطِ
Do not make your hand chained to your neck [out of stinginess], nor extend it completely.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:29
The verse compares the miser to one whose hand is chained to his neck, and the spendthrift to one who extends it without limit. It warns against both extremes, for one deprives and the other exhausts. The believer is called to moderation. In our daily lives, this lesson applies to our spending, but also to our time and energy. Neither hoard nor waste: act with wisdom and measure.
Today, before any purchase, ask yourself if this expense is useful and reasonable, then act accordingly.
