Staying away from unlawful sexual intercourse

This verse calls us to stay away from unlawful sexual intercourse, a grave act and an evil way.

وَلَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةٗ وَسَآءَ سَبِيلٗا

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

Quran, Al-Isra 17:32

In this verse, Allah tells us not to approach unlawful sexual intercourse. He does not only say not to commit it, but to stay away from anything that might lead to it. He describes it as an immorality and an evil way, showing its seriousness.

In our daily lives, this means we should avoid situations and thoughts that could lead us to this sin. For example, we can choose healthy company and activities that help us stay on the right path.

Today, identify a situation or habit that might bring you closer to unlawful sexual intercourse, and decide to distance yourself from it concretely, such as changing your place or company.
