تَكْرِيم
In this verse, Allah reminds us of the honor He has given to all human beings.
وَلَقَدۡ كَرَّمۡنَا بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلۡنَٰهُمۡ فِي ٱلۡبَرِّ وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ وَرَزَقۡنَٰهُم مِّنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلۡنَٰهُمۡ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّمَّنۡ خَلَقۡنَا تَفۡضِيلٗا
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:70
This verse brings together several blessings: honor, the ability to travel on land and sea, wholesome food, and a privileged position among creation. Allah does not mention any condition here: this honor applies to all humans. Realizing this dignity invites us to gratitude. We can thank Allah for these simple but essential gifts, and respect this dignity in ourselves and in others.
Today, take a moment to thank Allah for a concrete blessing, such as health or food, and say silently: 'Thank You, Allah.'
