شَاكِلَة
This verse reminds us that everyone acts according to their own way, but Allah knows who is best guided.
قُلۡ كُلّٞ يَعۡمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِۦ فَرَبُّكُمۡ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَنۡ هُوَ أَهۡدَىٰ سَبِيلٗا
Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."
Quran, Al-Isra 17:84
The verse begins with a command to say: "Say." It states that every person acts according to their own manner, their shākilah. No one acts without a method. Then it reminds that Allah knows better than anyone who is best guided on the path. This knowledge of Allah invites us to reflect on our own way of acting. We do not know who is best guided, but we can choose to direct our actions towards what is good. The verse does not judge others; it encourages us to examine our own path.
Today, before acting, ask yourself: "What is my way of acting?" Then choose an action that reflects a good intention.
