أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ
This verse describes the attitude of those who have been given knowledge when they hear the Quran.
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡعِلۡمَ مِن قَبۡلِهِۦٓ إِذَا يُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِمۡ يَخِرُّونَۤ لِلۡأَذۡقَانِۤ سُجَّدٗاۤ
Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:107
The verse mentions people who had already received knowledge before the Quran. When the Quran is recited to them, they prostrate. Their knowledge does not prevent them from recognizing the truth; it disposes them to bow before it. Today, we can imitate this attitude. When we read or listen to the Quran, we can pause for a moment, reflect on its message, and let our hearts humble themselves. True knowledge does not lead to arrogance, but to submission.
Today, before reading a page of the Quran, take a minute to remind yourself that the knowledge you have received should lead you to recognition and humility.
