خُشُوع
This verse describes the reaction of those who listen to the Qur'an sincerely.
وَيَزِيدُهُمۡ خُشُوعٗا
and it increases them in humility.
Quran, Al-Isra 17:109
In this passage, people listen to the Qur'an and fall on their faces weeping. The verse states that this attentive listening increases their khushūʿ, that is, their humility and inner submission. The context shows that they recognize Allah's promise and are moved by the truth. Today, we too can let ourselves be touched by the Qur'an. Humility comes not only from reading, but from listening with the heart. When we take time to listen to the verses attentively, our heart softens and our pride diminishes.
Today, listen to a short passage of the Qur'an with focus, then note in your heart a feeling of humility.
