بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ
This verse shows us a precious quality of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him).
وَبَرَّۢا بِوَٰلِدَتِي وَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡنِي جَبَّارٗا شَقِيّٗا
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.
Quran, Maryam 19:32
In this verse, Jesus (peace be upon him) reminds that Allah made him dutiful to his mother. This dutifulness is associated with prayer and zakah in the previous verse. It is therefore essential in a believer's life. Being dutiful to one's mother means speaking gently, caring for her, and respecting her. This keeps us away from violence and misery. Today, we can cultivate this quality in our family relationships.
Call your mother today, or if she has passed away, make a supplication for her.
