الْخَوْفُ مِنَ اللَّهِ
Abraham expresses his fear for his father.
إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ أَن يَمَسَّكَ عَذَابٞ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ
I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful.
Quran, Maryam 19:45
In this verse, Abraham speaks gently to his father. He fears that his father may receive a punishment from Allah if he continues to worship other than Him. This fear is not a paralyzing dread, but an awareness that leads one to turn away from evil. We can feel the same concern for our loved ones. When we see someone straying from the right path, we can remind them kindly of the possible consequences.
Today, think of a loved one who is straying. Make a silent prayer for them, and if the opportunity arises, offer a gentle reminder.
