ذِكْر
In this verse, Allah tells Prophet Moses to worship Him and establish prayer for His remembrance.
فَٱعۡبُدۡنِي وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكۡرِيٓ
So worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance.
Quran, Taa-Haa 20:14
This verse is part of Allah's direct speech to Moses. It first reminds that He is the only deity, then commands worship and prayer. The purpose of prayer here is remembrance of Allah: it is not just a ritual, but a privileged moment to turn to Him. In our daily life, prayer can become a mindful pause. It helps us refocus on what matters and strengthen our connection with Allah amidst our busy schedules.
Today, before each prayer, take a minute to remember that you are standing before Allah and to focus on His greatness.
