قَوْل لَيِّن
This verse invites us to speak gently, even to those who oppose us.
فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوۡلٗا لَّيِّنٗا لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوۡ يَخۡشَىٰ
And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah].
Quran, Taa-Haa 20:44
In this verse, Allah tells Moses and Aaron to go to Pharaoh, who has rebelled, and to speak to him gently. The aim is that he may remember or fear Allah. Gentleness is not weakness but a way to touch the heart. In our daily lives, we meet difficult people. The verse teaches us to choose soothing words, even when we disagree. This can ease tensions and open a dialogue.
Today, before answering someone who contradicts you, take a breath and choose a gentle wording.
