Moses warns the magicians not to invent lies against Allah.
لَا تَفۡتَرُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبٗا فَيُسۡحِتَكُم بِعَذَابٖۖ وَقَدۡ خَابَ مَنِ ٱفۡتَرَىٰ
"Do not invent a lie against Allah or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]."
Quran, Taa-Haa 20:61
In this verse, Moses addresses the magicians of Pharaoh. He forbids them from fabricating lies about Allah. He clarifies that this leads to punishment and loss. The verse combines the prohibition and the consequence. In our daily lives, we might be tempted to distort the truth about our faith to appear better or to convince others. This verse invites us to be sincere and cautious in our speech.
Today, before speaking about Allah or religion, check that what you say is true and do not invent it.
