Ask for More Knowledge

This verse teaches us to ask Allah to increase our knowledge.

وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِي عِلۡمٗا

And say: 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'

Quran, Taa-Haa 20:114

In this verse, Allah is described as the True Sovereign. The Prophet ﷺ is told not to hasten in recitation before the revelation is completed. Then he is taught to ask Allah to increase his knowledge. This shows the importance of knowledge and the humility of the learner.

In our daily lives, we can imitate this attitude by recognizing that our knowledge is limited and by asking Allah to grant us more understanding, whether in studies, work, or religion.

Today, before studying or reading, say: 'My Lord, increase me in knowledge.'
