إِعْرَاضٌ عَنِ اللَّغْوِ
This verse describes a quality of the believers: they turn away from vain speech and actions.
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ عَنِ ٱللَّغۡوِ مُعۡرِضُونَ
And they who turn away from ill speech
Quran, Al-Muminoon 23:3
In this passage, Allah associates humility in prayer with turning away from futility. This shows that faith is not limited to acts of worship but also reflects in our daily speech and behavior. Turning away from laghw means choosing not to dwell on what is vain, whether it be useless conversations, excessive distractions, or worthless actions. It is an orientation of the heart towards what is useful and beneficial.
Today, when you are tempted to engage in a futile conversation or waste time on a distraction, turn away and replace it with a useful action, such as a supplication or reading.
