Guarding Chastity

This verse describes an essential quality of believers: guarding their chastity.

وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمۡ لِفُرُوجِهِمۡ حَٰفِظُونَ

And they who guard their private parts

Quran, Al-Muminoon 23:5

In Surah Al-Muminoon, Allah enumerates the qualities of believers. Here, He mentions that they guard their chastity. The following verse clarifies that this applies outside of marriage. Thus, modesty and self-control are signs of faith.

In our daily lives, this invites us to control our glances and behaviors. We can cultivate this quality by being aware of our responsibility and seeking to please Allah.

Today, lower your gaze when you encounter someone who is not permissible for you, and remind yourself that this self-control is a quality of believers.
