This verse addresses the messengers with a double call: to eat from what is pure and to do good deeds.
كُلُواْ مِنَ ٱلطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَٱعۡمَلُواْ صَٰلِحًا
Eat from the good foods and work righteousness.
Quran, Al-Muminoon 23:51
In this verse, Allah addresses the messengers, commanding them to eat pure and lawful foods, and then to do good deeds. The verse associates these two things without explaining their link. It also reminds that Allah knows all that they do. For us, this word invites us to reflect on what we consume and what we accomplish. We can choose lawful and healthy food, and ensure that our actions are good, even in small matters.
Today, before eating, take a moment to check that your food is lawful and healthy, then perform a simple good deed, like helping someone.
