عَوْذ
This verse teaches us a simple supplication for protection.
رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنۡ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ
My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils.
Quran, Al-Muminoon 23:97
In this verse, Allah instructs the Prophet to say: 'My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the incitements of the devils.' The word 'incitements' refers to the suggestions or provocations of devils. The following verse adds: 'And I seek refuge in You, my Lord, lest they be present with me.' Thus, the believer asks Allah to protect him from their evil influences and their presence. This supplication can be said at any time: before starting a task, when angry, or when feeling tempted. It reminds us that we rely on Allah to stay on the right path.
Today, before starting an important activity, say: 'Rabbi a'udhu bika min hamazatish-shayatin' with sincerity.
