Entering without blame, with integrity

This verse clarifies a practical permission while reminding of Allah's awareness.

لَّيۡسَ عَلَيۡكُمۡ جُنَاحٌ أَن تَدۡخُلُواْ بُيُوتًا غَيۡرَ مَسۡكُونَةٖ فِيهَا مَتَٰعٞ لَّكُمۡۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعۡلَمُ مَا تُبۡدُونَ وَمَا تَكۡتُمُونَ

There is no blame upon you for entering houses not inhabited in which there is convenience for you. And Allah knows what you reveal and what you conceal.

Quran, An-Nur 24:29

The previous verse required permission to enter an inhabited house. Here, an exception is mentioned: uninhabited houses where you have a benefit. The word 'junāḥ' means 'blame' or 'sin': there is no fault in entering them, provided it is for a legitimate purpose.

This passage links permission to divine knowledge. Allah knows what you show and what you hide. Thus, the granted freedom is not an invitation to prying, but a responsibility: your intention remains under Allah's watch.

Today, before entering an uninhabited place (like a service room), ask yourself if your intention is legitimate and if you are acting with integrity.
