غَضّ البَصَر
This verse invites believers to control their gaze and preserve their chastity.
Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them.
Quran, An-Nur 24:30
In this verse, Allah tells the believers to lower their gaze and guard their chastity. He states that this is purer for them. This instruction is first addressed to men, and the following verse addresses women, showing that this rule concerns the whole community. Lowering the gaze means avoiding looking at what is forbidden, such as the private parts of others or anything that could arouse illicit desires. This helps maintain a pure heart and respect the limits set by Allah. It is a form of self-control that protects the individual and society.
Today, when you encounter someone, modestly lower your gaze and turn away from what is forbidden.
