الِاسْتِغْفَارُ لِلْوَالِدَيْن
This verse teaches us a beautiful supplication for a parent who has gone astray.
وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِيٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
Quran, Ash-Shu'araa 26:86
In this verse, a righteous person asks Allah to forgive his father, while acknowledging that his father has gone astray. This request for forgiveness shows that filial love does not cease even in cases of disagreement or error. We too can supplicate for our parents, whether they are close to faith or far from it. It is a way to show them respect and affection, and to entrust their fate to Allah's mercy.
Today, after a prayer, supplicate: 'My Lord, forgive my parents and have mercy on them.'
