الْقَلْبُ السَّلِيم
This verse invites us to cultivate a sound heart to meet Allah.
إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبٖ سَلِيمٖ
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart
Quran, Ash-Shu'araa 26:89
The previous verse describes a Day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail. The central verse specifies that only one thing will matter: coming to Allah with a sound heart. The following verse adds that Paradise will be brought near for the righteous. Thus, a sound heart is associated with righteousness and salvation. In our daily lives, we can ask ourselves what nourishes our heart: material concerns or awareness of Allah? This verse encourages us to value our inner state.
Today, take a moment to recite this verse and reflect on what clutters your heart. Choose a simple action to draw closer to Allah, such as a supplication or reading Quran.
