الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
David and Solomon received knowledge and responded with praise.
وَقَالَا ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ
and they said: "Praise be to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants."
Quran, An-Naml 27:15
This verse associates the knowledge given by Allah with the praise of the two prophets. They recognize that this knowledge is a blessing and that other believers have not received it. Their reaction is gratitude expressed in words. Today, every piece of knowledge we use – at school, at work, in life – is also a gift. We can receive it with the same humility: acknowledge that it comes from Allah and thank Him.
Before studying or using a skill today, say once: "Al-ḥamdu lillāh."
