شُكْر
When a great blessing is granted to us, it is an opportunity to ask ourselves: how will we respond?
"This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself."
Quran, An-Naml 27:40
In this verse, a person who has received a blessing acknowledges that it comes from the grace of his Lord. He understands that it is a test: will he be grateful or ungrateful? The verse clarifies that gratitude benefits the one who gives thanks, not Allah, for Allah is Self-Sufficient. Every blessing, small or great, is an opportunity to show our gratitude. Today, let us take a moment to thank Allah for a specific blessing, realizing that this thankfulness benefits us ourselves.
Today, whenever you receive a blessing, sincerely say 'Alhamdulillah' and take a second to realize that this thankfulness brings you good.
