الِاسْتِغْفَار
Moses acknowledges his wrong and asks Allah for forgiveness, and Allah forgives him.
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي ظَلَمۡتُ نَفۡسِي فَٱغۡفِرۡ لِي فَغَفَرَ لَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Quran, Al-Qasas 28:16
In this verse, Moses acknowledges that he has wronged himself. He does not make excuses; he turns humbly to Allah and asks for forgiveness. Allah forgives him immediately, for He is the Forgiving and the Merciful. We can do the same. After a mistake, instead of dwelling in guilt, we can turn to Allah, admit our fault, and ask for His forgiveness. It is an act of trust and humility.
Today, as soon as you realize a mistake, say: "Rabbi inni zalamtu nafsi faghfir li" (My Lord, I have wronged myself, so forgive me).
