This verse teaches us that patience and responding to evil with good lead to a double reward.
Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good.
Quran, Al-Qasas 28:54
This verse brings together three attitudes: patience, responding to evil with good, and spending from what Allah has provided. These qualities are associated with a double reward, without specifying a condition. In our daily lives, we can practice patience in the face of difficulties and respond to hurtful words with a kind word. This requires effort, but the verse encourages us by mentioning a generous reward.
Today, when a situation irritates you, take a breath and respond with a kind word or with silence.
