إِعْرَاض
This verse teaches us to respond with dignity to foolish talk.
وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ ٱللَّغۡوَ أَعۡرَضُواْ عَنۡهُ وَقَالُواْ لَنَآ أَعۡمَٰلُنَا وَلَكُمۡ أَعۡمَٰلُكُمۡ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيۡكُمۡ لَا نَبۡتَغِي ٱلۡجَٰهِلِينَ
And when they hear ill speech, they turn away from it and say, "For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. Peace will be upon you; we seek not the ignorant."
Quran, Al-Qasas 28:55
This verse describes believers who, when they hear vain words, choose to turn away. They do not engage in arguments. They remind that each person is responsible for their own deeds, then they offer peace. This attitude shows great maturity: they do not respond to ignorance with ignorance. In our daily lives, we often encounter useless or provocative conversations. Imitating this conduct means preserving our serenity and dignity. Turning away does not mean fleeing, but choosing not to let evil affect us.
Today, if a conversation becomes futile or hurtful, say inwardly "Peace be upon you" and change the subject or walk away calmly.
