Allah tests the believers to distinguish the truthful from the liars.
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars.
Quran, Al-Ankabut 29:3
This verse follows the question in the previous verse: do people think they will be left to say 'we believe' without being tried? Here, Allah answers by reminding that He tried those before them. He thus makes clear who is sincere in faith and who is not. In our lives, difficulties are moments when our sincerity is verified. They invite us to be honest with ourselves and with Allah, to act with integrity, even when it is hard.
Today, choose a simple action and do it solely for Allah, with sincerity, without seeking to be noticed.
