بِرّ
This verse teaches us how to balance respect for parents and faithfulness to Allah.
وَوَصَّيۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ حُسۡنٗاۖ وَإِن جَٰهَدَاكَ لِتُشۡرِكَ بِي مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٞ فَلَا تُطِعۡهُمَآۚ
And We have enjoined upon man goodness to parents. But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them.
Quran, Al-Ankabut 29:8
Allah commands us to be good to our parents. It is an important duty. But if parents push us to associate partners with Allah, we must not obey them. Kindness does not mean obeying in sin. In daily life, we can love and respect our parents while refusing what contradicts our faith. We can express disagreement gently and firmly, without being disrespectful.
Today, think of a situation where you can show kindness to your parents, even if you disagree with them on a point.
