صَلَاة
This verse invites us to perform prayer, for it protects us from bad behavior.
وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَۖ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنۡهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلۡفَحۡشَآءِ وَٱلۡمُنكَرِۗ
Establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing.
Quran, Al-Ankabut 29:45
In this passage, Allah asks to recite the Book and establish prayer. He explains that prayer prevents immoral and reprehensible acts. It acts as a constant reminder that keeps us away from evil. In our daily life, prayer offers moments of pause to refocus. It helps us think before acting and avoid hurtful words or gestures. By practicing it regularly, we cultivate a sharper awareness of our deeds.
Before your next prayer, take a minute to ask yourself: what bad habit do I want to avoid today? Then perform your prayer with that intention.
