Gratitude to Allah and to your parents

This verse teaches us an essential value of Islam: kindness to parents.

وَوَصَّيۡنَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيۡهِ حَمَلَتۡهُ أُمُّهُۥ وَهۡنًا عَلَىٰ وَهۡنٖ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ فِي عَامَيۡنِ أَنِ ٱشۡكُرۡ لِي وَلِوَٰلِدَيۡكَ إِلَيَّ ٱلۡمَصِيرُ

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.

Quran, Luqman 31:14

Allah commands kindness to parents and reminds us of the mother's hardships during pregnancy and nursing. He links gratitude to Him with gratitude to parents, showing their importance.

In our daily life, we can show this kindness through gentle words, help, and patience, even as our parents age.

Today, call or visit your parents and say a kind word or do a simple favor for them.
