This verse reminds us that humankind accepted a tremendous trust that the heavens, the earth, and the mountains declined.
We offered the Trust to the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, but they refused to carry it and were afraid of it, yet humankind carried it.
Quran, Al-Ahzab 33:72
Verse 33:72 mentions the trust (al-amānah) that humankind accepted to bear. The heavens, the earth, and the mountains refused it out of fear, but humankind took it on. The verse then describes humans as unjust and ignorant, without specifying the exact nature of this trust. This acceptance obliges us to be worthy of that confidence. Today, we can show responsibility in our words and actions by avoiding betrayal and keeping our commitments.
Identify a promise or task you have accepted and fulfill it today with sincerity.
