عَدُوّ
This verse calls us to consider Satan as an enemy and to be wary of his invitations.
إِنَّ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنَ لَكُمۡ عَدُوّٞ فَٱتَّخِذُوهُ عَدُوًّاۚ
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy.
Quran, Faatir 35:6
The verse clearly states that Satan is an enemy to us. He does not wish us well. He seeks to lead us astray. Therefore, we must take him seriously and not follow his suggestions. In our daily lives, this means being mindful of our thoughts and actions. When we feel an urge to do wrong, we can remember that this may come from this enemy. We can then choose to resist and do good.
Today, before acting, ask yourself: does this action bring me closer to Allah or farther away? If you feel a temptation, say inwardly: 'I seek refuge with Allah from Satan' and choose the good.
