حَمْد
In the garden, the believers utter a praise that reveals the secret of gratitude.
ٱلۡحَمۡدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَذۡهَبَ عَنَّا ٱلۡحَزَنَ
Praise to Allah, who has removed from us [all] sorrow.
Quran, Faatir 35:34
This verse reports the words of the inhabitants of Paradise. They praise Allah because He has taken away all sadness from them. This praise is not a simple thank you: it acknowledges that Allah is Forgiving and Appreciative. He forgives faults and appreciates the slightest good. In our lives, we often forget the sorrows already overcome. Yet every difficulty surmounted is a reason to praise. Gratitude begins by looking at what has been removed, not only at what is missing.
Today, take a minute to say 'Alhamdulillah' while thinking of a hardship Allah has removed from you.
