إِخْلَاص
This verse invites us to follow those who ask no payment and are rightly guided.
ٱتَّبِعُواْ مَن لَّا يَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ أَجۡرٗا وَهُم مُّهۡتَدُونَ
Follow those who do not ask of you any payment, and they are rightly guided.
Quran, Yaseen 36:21
In this verse, a man in haste urges his people to follow the messengers. He describes them with two qualities: they ask no payment and they are guided. The verse associates these two aspects without explaining their connection. This speech encourages us to value sincerity: acting without expecting material reward shows disinterested commitment. Today, we can recognize and appreciate those who advise or help us without expecting anything in return.
Today, sincerely thank someone who helped you without expecting anything, or do a small favor without asking for anything in return.
